Scott Miller, an esteemed literary agent and executive vice president at Trident Media Group, passed away on April 23 in New York, leaving behind a legacy at the age of 53.
Miller earned his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law. His journey in the publishing world began in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency, setting the stage for a remarkable career in literary representation. In 2000, he was a founding member of Trident Media Group, where he successfully represented a diverse roster of authors, including notable names like W. Bruce Cameron, Mark Greaney, Pam Grier, and Cesar Millan. In addition to his work in publishing, Miller was also passionate about street photography, showcasing his work on Instagram @streetshootermiller.
Robert Gottlieb, chairman of Trident, expressed deep admiration for Miller, stating, “Scott Miller first and foremost was an extraordinary human being. He loved his family. We were friends for over thirty years, and he joined Trident at its founding starting as my assistant. He quickly rose up in the firm and the publishing industry. Scott was a fantastic agent who dedicated himself to Trident and his authors every day of his professional career.”
He is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughters, Alexa and Emma; and his brother, Robb. A memorial service has been organized for Sunday, April 27 at 12:30 PM at Temple Sinai in Tenafly, New Jersey.
