A 19-year-old law student from Scotland has tragically passed away while on vacation in Ibiza, following an incident that occurred at a hotel in San Antonio. Reports indicate that Emma Ramsay fell from a sixth-floor balcony in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The local authorities, specifically Spain’s Guardia Civil, are currently treating the case as an accidental death. Ramsay, a student at Strathclyde University, had shared various joyful moments from her holiday with friends on her social media just hours before the unfortunate event.
Emma’s mother, Barbara, expressed her devastation online, describing her daughter as “my best friend in the whole world.” In her heartfelt message, she conveyed profound sorrow, stating, “I am going to miss you more than words will ever express. Rest in peace my sweet angel and sleep tight mummy loves you so so much.”
A spokesperson from Strathclyde University, where Ramsay was entering her third year of law studies, shared their shock and sadness at her passing. “Emma was a much-loved member of our student community and we are shocked and saddened by her death,” they noted, extending condolences to her family and all impacted by this tragic occurrence.
Ramsay was a former head girl at St John Ogilvie High School in Hamilton. Lorna Lawson, the headteacher, remembered Emma as an “incredibly kind, hard-working, bright and talented pupil” who made significant contributions to the school community. She added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Emma’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Emma will be missed and will forever hold a special place in our school.”
