Authorities in Hamilton are currently combing through a landfill in Ontario as part of their ongoing search for clues related to a missing woman, Shalini Singh, aged 40.

Singh was last seen by her friends and family at approximately 7:10 p.m. on December 4, 2024. Concerned for her well-being, family members officially reported her missing about a week later, on December 10, according to police reports.

At the time she vanished, Singh was residing with her common-law boyfriend in a downtown apartment complex in Hamilton. Interestingly, her boyfriend also went missing around the same period but was located on December 11 at a relative’s residence outside the Hamilton area, as reported by authorities.

Investigators noted that Singh’s boyfriend has not been cooperative with the ongoing investigation into her disappearance and has not supplied any information that might assist police in locating her.

Despite multiple searches conducted within the apartment building, authorities have yet to find any evidence connected to Singh’s case. They have meticulously sifted through extensive surveillance footage aimed at tracing the movements of both Singh and her boyfriend during the days surrounding her disappearance. However, no CCTV footage has surfaced showing Singh exiting the building after December 4.

Hamilton police are exploring the possibility that Singh may have met with foul play within her apartment and could have been disposed of through the building’s garbage disposal system. Early investigations revealed that some refuse from the building might still be at the Kenora Waste Transfer Station. On December 15, police secured and searched this garbage but uncovered no significant findings.

According to reports, most of the waste from Singh’s apartment complex had already been transported to Glanbrook Landfill, located just outside Hamilton in Caledonia, Ontario. Over the past few weeks, police have been coordinating a detailed search of the landfill site, which commenced on Monday and is anticipated to span several weeks. Authorities ensured that while a considerable police presence will be noted at the location, there will be minimal impact on traffic in the surrounding area.

Singh is described as having a light skin tone, standing about five feet four inches in height and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She sports brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair. Police have informed the public that Singh likely does not have access to a vehicle, and family members have shared her photograph to assist in disseminating information regarding her case.

Anyone with relevant information about Singh’s whereabouts or her disappearance is encouraged to come forward and contact law enforcement.
