Taylor Sheridan fans often find themselves confident about the future of his shows without needing formal announcements, as it’s generally accepted that Paramount would actively seek to continue a successful series. The second season of Landman has not yet been officially confirmed, but indications suggest that production is set to begin soon, hinting at the show’s continuity.
The latest addition to Sheridan’s impressive portfolio, Landman features a stellar cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore, who is making her television debut. The series is set in a small town adjacent to a contemporary oil rig and offers the same dramatic storytelling that has characterized Yellowstone and its spin-offs. Recently, a casting call published by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram indicated the show’s need for extras, specifically looking for two six-month-old boys and stand-ins for the lead characters. This notice suggests that filming may commence in March.
The casting notice specifically mentioned, “We don’t have exact dates yet but he could be needed throughout filming on and off for a few weeks. Filming is Fort Worth in the Benbrook area.”
‘Landman’ Getting a Second Season Is Paramount’s Worst Kept Secret
In today’s television landscape, audiences often brace themselves for the possibility of abrupt cancellations, especially after a show’s initial season. Yet, Landman has emerged as a remarkable success, shattering viewership records and reinforcing Sheridan’s influence over Paramount+. With a commendable 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show has proven to be a valuable asset, even amidst tensions related to Yellowstone.
While it’s wise to await formal confirmation before getting too optimistic about a new season, the recent casting news is not the first indication of the series’ future. Two months prior, Demi Moore expressed her eagerness to start filming, and Billy Bob Thornton has commented on Sheridan’s plans for the sequel and his enthusiasm regarding its writing.
If filming is set to begin later this month, it is plausible that the second season of Landman could premiere by year’s end. However, fans of Sheridan’s work should not lack for alternatives in the meantime. Current offerings include 1923 in its second season, Tulsa King gearing up for its third season, and Mayor of Kingstown, which is advancing into its fourth season. Additionally, viewers can look forward to further developments with Yellowstone spin-offs like The Madison.
With all these exciting shows in the pipeline, fans can expect an official announcement about the future of Landman soon.
