Renovations Underway at Downtown Parking Garage
A downtown parking facility is set to undergo significant renovations.
Starting April 16, the Clinton Street entry of the Capitol Street Parking Garage will be closed to facilitate extensive ramp repairs. During this period, all vehicles will need to access the garage via the Capitol Street entrance, located between the Old Capitol Town Center and the Seamans Center.
As the largest parking structure in the city, the Capitol Street ramp can accommodate up to 875 vehicles.

In addition to the closure of the Clinton Street entrance, there will be limited availability of parking spaces on various floors as the repairs progress. City officials and representatives from the University of Iowa are working together to mitigate any inconveniences for individuals holding parking permits.
These repairs are part of a broader, ongoing maintenance initiative aimed at guaranteeing the garage’s safety and structural soundness, as confirmed by a city announcement.
The renovation work is projected to continue throughout the summer months.
