Shalini Passi made a prominent impression during the third season of Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, where her unique sense of style and insight into life captivated audiences. Her moments on the show prompted considerable conversation long after the episodes ended.
In one memorable segment set in Mauritius, Shalini created a buzz when she was seen sipping champagne through a straw, prompting her co-star Seema Sajdeh to lightheartedly label her as an “ajeeb aurat.”
During a personal confessional, Shalini made remarks that hinted at friendly rivalry, stating, “Unlike a lot of my friends, I don’t have veneers. These are my real teeth. I’d like them to remain like this for the next 100 years.” Seema later responded to Shalini’s comments during an interview with Jarp, acknowledging her own dental enhancements by saying, “I have two veneers in the front, so what? I can’t possibly come with chipped teeth. I only use a straw when I put on lipstick because I hate touch-ups.”
When Seema heard speculation that Shalini’s comments were aimed at her, she pondered, “Was it pointed at me?” However, she quickly moved on, stating, “Let it be, I own it up. I have it (veneers).” Seema noted, “Shalini would never say a thing before us, but she would drop bombs at these Q&A scenes,” indicating that the candid tone of the show often brought out surprising truths.
Further reflecting on her camaraderie with Shalini, Seema said, “She is a sweet girl. I have fun with her, and I know she has become a sensation. Good for her. She lives in Delhi and I live in Mumbai, but whenever we get to see each other, we enjoy it. I have known her for many years and met her at several parties. But this side of her was a revelation on the show. We had no clue about this.”
Seema also humorously dismissed any potential parallels between her and Shalini’s ways, contemplating how her own children would react to such antics: “Imagine if mumma wore a gown and ran into the ocean. My children will call me crazy.”
In the same interview, Seema engaged in a playful activity of assigning cinematic titles to her co-stars. While she assigned Maheep Kapoor the title of “Sholay” and labeled Neelam Kapoor as “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” she jokingly referred to Shalini as “Chaalbaaz,” further solidifying the spirited rapport amid playful rivalries within the cast.
