Fire Erupts from Semi-Truck on I-75 After Flat Tire Incident
TAMPA, Fla. — A semi-truck carrying a load of eggs caught fire on Interstate 75 over the weekend, following a stop due to a flat tire. The fire broke out near exit 246 in Riverview on Saturday.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) reported that the blaze seemed to initiate in the cab of the truck and subsequently spread to the trailer, engulfing the cargo area as well.
First responders swiftly attended the scene, managing to extinguish the flames within approximately 30 minutes, although some hot spots lingered in parts of the cargo area.
Traffic on the southbound lanes of I-75 was heavily impacted as the incident unfolded, with lanes reduced to one to allow room for emergency crews to operate effectively.
