Sergio Garcia Achieves Double Victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong
Sergio Garcia has marked a remarkable achievement by securing both the individual title and the team championship at the LIV Golf Hong Kong event. The accomplished golfer delivered an impressive final round, carding a 63 at the Hong Kong Golf Club, which propelled him to a tournament total of 18-under par. This performance granted him a three-shot victory over Dean Burmester of Stinger GC, who finished with a strong showing at 15-under, following a final round of 62.
Phil Mickelson, representing the HyFlyers, rounded out the top three, finishing at 14-under after his own commendable final round of 64. Despite his efforts, the six-time major champion is still in pursuit of his first title in the LIV Golf series.
Garcia expressed hopes that his stellar performance might capture the attention of European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, as he aims for a place on the team tasked with defending their title in September at Bethpage. “Hopefully he (Donald) will think I’m good enough for it,” said Garcia, who has participated in 10 Ryder Cup events. “I just want to help the European team.”
In addition to his individual success, Garcia’s team, Fireballs GC, finished atop the team leaderboard at 37-under par, narrowly defeating Stinger GC by just one shot.
