Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” Achieves Record-tying Success on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs
Shaboozey’s hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has made headlines by matching the longest-running No. 1 status of the current decade on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, maintaining its position for 27 weeks as of the chart dated December 28.
The artist, whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, originally saw the song reach the top of the chart in May, tying the record previously set by Gabby Barrett’s debut single “I Hope,” which dominated the chart in the 2020-21 period.
Notably, these two tracks now share the third-place ranking for the longest No. 1 runs since the inception of the Hot Country Songs chart as a full-format ranking in 1958. The record for the longest No. 1 run remains held by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be,” which spent an unprecedented 50 weeks at No. 1 beginning in December 2017, followed closely by Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” with 34 weeks starting in February 2017. Interestingly, all four songs have found substantial success on both country and pop radio formats.
During the period from December 13 to 19, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” garnered impressive statistics, accumulating 63.8 million airplay audience impressions, 17.5 million streams, and 5,000 sold copies in the United States, according to data from Luminate.
The track, released under American Dogwood/EMPIRE with country radio promotion by Magnolia Music, held the No. 1 spot on the Country Airplay chart for seven consecutive weeks starting in August – the longest duration for a debut single. Furthermore, it has been a staple in the top 10 for an impressive 25 weeks, making waves as the first song to break into the top five across Country Airplay, Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay, and Rhythmic Airplay charts.
In addition to its country success, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” also made a significant impact on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, where it held the No. 1 position for 19 weeks between July and November, tying Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, for the longest-running No. 1 in the chart’s history spanning 66 years.
Shaboozey is now promoting his sophomore single “Highway,” which he also co-wrote. This new entry has begun making strides on the charts, moving from position 60 to 55 and gaining 989,000 audience impressions—a 24% increase within its second week.
Barber and Anna Break into the Top 10

Sam Barber’s “Indigo,” featuring Avery Anna, has made a notable leap from 17 to 8 in just its second week on the Hot Country Songs chart, marking the first top 10 entry for both artists.
The track, co-written by Barber, Anna, and Andy Sheridan, is part of Barber’s debut album Restless Mind, which peaked at No. 13 on the Top Country Albums chart as of November 16.
During the week of December 13 to 19, “Indigo” saw 9.3 million streams, a substantial 49% increase, along with 1,000 copies sold, reflecting a 15% rise.
21-year-old Barber, hailing from Frohna, Missouri, made his first appearance on the Hot Country Songs chart with “Straight and Narrow,” which peaked at No. 33 in May. Meanwhile, 28-year-old Avery Anna from Flagstaff, Arizona, is also enjoying her second foray into the charts after her song “Narcissist” reached No. 22 in June 2022.
