Shaina Taub to Perform at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series
Shaina Taub is set to showcase her talent during a concert as part of Lincoln Center’s revered American Songbook Series on March 21st at 8:30 PM. This event will take place at The Appel Room, located within Jazz at Lincoln Center, situated at 10 Columbus Circle, New York, NY 10019.
Since her debut in the American Songbook Series in 2015, Taub has emerged as a formidable presence in both the pop and theater scenes. Her accolades include Grammy nominations, three original albums, and contributions to musical adaptations of Shakespeare, alongside the acclaimed Broadway show *Suffs*, which has received multiple Tony Awards. With a versatile performance background, including notable appearances in Off-Broadway productions like *Old Hats*, *Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812*, *Hadestown*, and *Ragtime*, Taub’s artistry shines particularly bright when she performs solo behind the piano. Her recent sold-out residency at Joe’s Pub highlights her captivating vocal abilities. Moreover, Taub was recognized as one of Time Magazine’s 2024 TIME100 Next, illustrating her influence and leadership in the creative community. This concert at Lincoln Center will feature her backed by a full band, promising an extraordinary evening filled with music and special guest performances.
This season’s American Songbook Series emphasizes the contributions of “Singer Outsiders,” spotlighting women and nonbinary artists who have significantly influenced today’s music and performance landscape while fostering ongoing dialogues about gender, identity, and empowerment.
The series will commence with a multimedia event titled *History’s Persistent Voice* on February 11 at Alice Tully Hall, featuring the renowned soprano Julia Bullock. Additional performances include Meshell Ndegeocello on March 23 at The Appel Room, a screening of *Poly Styrene: I Am A Cliché* on March 26, a tribute to Poly Styrene on March 28, a tribute to The Slits on April 4, and a closing show by French Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux on April 15.
