Shakira Expands Record-Breaking Residency in Mexico City

UPDATE (MARCH 29): Shakira is set to conclude the initial segment of her groundbreaking residency at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City this Sunday, March 30, with her seventh show. The artist has just revealed four additional concert dates in Mexico, including one more performance at the same venue on August 27. This brings her scheduled concerts to three consecutive nights at GNP Seguros on August 29 and 30, according to promoter OCESA’s announcement on March 29.

With these latest additions, Shakira’s first global stadium tour will include a total of 20 shows in Mexico, setting a new record for the most performances at the Estadio GNP Seguros, formerly known as Foro Sol. She surpasses the previous record held by regional Mexican band Grupo Firme, which stood at eight shows.

“In appreciation of her fans and due to an overwhelming response, the singer has announced four additional dates. The tour will kick off in Monterrey,” OCESA shared via social media.

The second phase of Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Mexico will launch on August 23 at the historic Parque Fundidora, marking her return to this northern city. Additional concerts include stops at Estadio Corregidora in Querétaro on September 3 and Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla on September 11.

PREVIOUSLY (MARCH 28): The Colombian star continues to set records in Mexico, having recently announced five more shows as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, which includes two new dates at the Estadio GNP Seguros on August 29 and 30, following the announcement made by OCESA on March 28.

With this addition, Shakira’s total number of performances in Mexico during her inaugural world tour reaches 16.

“Shakira continues to make history in Mexico! Due to high demand, a new date has been added to the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour at GNP Seguros Stadium,” OCESA stated in a statement.

Pre-sale tickets for Banamex cardholders began on Friday at 1:20 p.m. local time, one day before general ticket sales started.

ORIGINAL STORY (MARCH 26): Shakira has announced four more shows in Mexico as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, including an extra date at GNP Seguros Stadium on August 29, as announced by OCESA on March 26.

“11 dates are not enough; the She-Wolf will return with four additional performances in August and September,” the promoter announced on social media.

This new announcement will allow Shakira to achieve the notable milestone of eight performances at the notable venue over two segments of her tour, eclipsing shows by other global stars such as Paul McCartney, Metallica, Coldplay, and Taylor Swift.

Her upcoming concerts will also include performances at Estadio Corregidora in Querétaro on September 2, Estadio Akron in Guadalajara on September 6, and Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla on September 12. Pre-sale for Banamex cardholders is scheduled for March 28, while general ticket sales will commence the following day.

As of March 25, Shakira performed the fourth show out of seven at Estadio GNP Seguros, solidifying her status as the first artist to completely sell out multiple nights at this major venue, with a projected total attendance of 455,000, as per OCESA.

Having kicked off on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour is also set to make stops in the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Colombia before heading to the United States on May 13.

In a recent interview with Billboard Español, Shakira expressed that this tour has become more than just a series of concerts, stating, “These are deep encounters where healing happens,” and reflecting on how she feels “stronger and happier” with each performance.
