Social media’s latest sensation, AI-generated art reminiscent of Studio Ghibli’s signature style, has captured the attention of users worldwide. A diverse array of public figures, including Bollywood stars and athletes, are partaking in this creative trend, showcasing whimsical illustrations that evoke the magic of Hayao Miyazaki’s artistry. Enter Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor, who has recently joined this artistic wave.
On Instagram, Kapoor unveiled an AI-crafted image of herself from the set of her upcoming film, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. This vibrant post features a collage that juxtaposes her real-life persona with a Ghibli-inspired illustration depicting her in a charming pose with the film’s clapboard.
Shanaya is not alone in this artistic exploration; several other celebrities, including Arjun Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Bharti Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, Parineeti Chopra, and Mouni Roy, have also embraced the Ghibli-inspired trend.
Regarding her film debut, Shanaya will star in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan alongside Vikrant Massey, with direction by Santosh Singh, known for the acclaimed series Broken But Beautiful and Apharan. The script is crafted by talented writers Niranjan Iyengar and Mansi Bagla.
The film draws inspiration from Ruskin Bond’s short story, “The Eyes Have It,” and features Shanaya as a theater artist while Vikrant portrays a blind musician. The film is anticipated to grace theaters around mid-2025, although formal announcements from the production team are still pending.
In addition to Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Shanaya is set to appear in Anand L. Rai’s forthcoming project, Tu Yaa Main, where she stars alongside Adarsh Gourav. This survival thriller, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, is scheduled for a Valentine’s Day 2026 release, positioning it in a competitive landscape with Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
Shanaya’s filmography is expanding further with a pan-Indian project titled Vrushabha, featuring the renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal. Directed by Nanda Kishore, the film also includes notable actors such as Meka Srikanth, Ramachandran Raju, Zahrah S Khan, and Ragini Dwivedi. While the release date for Vrushabha remains unannounced, it is generating considerable anticipation among fans.
