In an impressive display of skill, Shaun Murphy achieved a remarkable 147 break during his Masters semi-final match against Mark Allen at Alexandra Palace. This performance marks the sixth instance of a maximum break in the tournament’s history.
Initially facing a 2-0 deficit, the former world champion made a significant comeback, and his flawless 147 break enabled him to take a commanding 4-2 lead in the race to six frames.
Murphy had narrowly missed out on a maximum break in his previous match against Neil Robertson, where he found himself snookered behind the blue ball after potting his 15th black. Reflecting on that near miss, he expressed his frustration, stating, “What an idiot! Anywhere but there! I’d love to have another go at that one.”
