Reactions from Tamil Actresses Following Nayanthara’s Bold Letter to Dhanush

Shruti Haasan has expressed her support for Nayanthara amid the controversy involving Dhanush.

Nayanthara vs Dhanush Controversy: The Tamil film industry has been abuzz with reactions from actresses like Shruti Haasan and Aishwarya Rajesh following Nayanthara’s candid open letter targeting Dhanush. The situation escalated when Nayanthara revealed that Dhanush filed a lawsuit against her for Rs 10 Crores regarding the use of behind-the-scenes footage in her upcoming documentary. Her letter detailed the difficulties she encountered while trying to secure permissions from Dhanush.

In her correspondence, Nayanthara implied that Dhanush’s actions were hypocritical, a sentiment that has resonated widely, leading to significant buzz on social media. Shruti Haasan, who starred alongside Dhanush in the film 3 (Moonu), showed her allegiance to Nayanthara by ‘liking’ her post addressing the controversy.

Other actresses who have previously collaborated with Dhanush, including Aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), Aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandhiram), Nazriya Fahadh (Naiyaandi), Anupama Parameswaran (Kodi), Parvathy Thiruvothu (Maryan), Manjima Mohan (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam), and Gouri G Kishan (Karnan), have also shown their support for Nayanthara by liking her post. Parvathy further amplified her support by sharing Nayanthara’s statement on her Instagram Stories, commending the actress.

Nayanthara’s documentary, titled ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale,’ is scheduled for release on Netflix on November 18. This film aims to chronicle the ups and downs of her life, including her romantic journey with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, which began on the set of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. In her public letter, Nayanthara expressed frustration over Dhanush’s lack of response to her request for a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) regarding the use of footage from the film in her documentary.

She noted that following the decision to substitute the original footage with a publicly-available behind-the-scenes video, she was still met with legal action from Dhanush for allegedly using the footage without authorization.

“What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix Documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot in our personal devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media and claimed a sum of Rs.10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds. This is an all time low from you and speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but clearly you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner,” Nayanthara remarked in her statement.
