Dr. Jaspinder Narula Honored with Padma Shri, Dedicates Award to Pahalgam Terror Attack Victims
Acclaimed playback singer Dr. Jaspinder Narula has been awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, in acknowledgment of her remarkable contributions to the musical landscape of the country. The award ceremony took place on April 28, 2025, during which President Droupadi Murmu presented the honor. Narula, dressed in elegant gold attire, accepted the award with evident pride.
In a heartfelt gesture, Narula has dedicated her Padma Shri to the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Expressing her sentiments, she shared, “I was honored on Monday in Delhi, but my happiness regarding the Padma Shri was overshadowed by deep sadness. The tragic incident in Pahalgam distressed me significantly. I pray for peace for the souls lost and their families.”
The Pahalgam attack on April 22 witnessed a grim turn of events, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals and inflicting injuries on numerous others when armed assailants targeted tourists. This incident marks one of the most harrowing attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir region in recent memory.
The violent incident transpired around 2:30 PM, leaving a profound sense of grief and chaos in its wake. Among those who lost their lives were a newlywed Navy officer and an Intelligence Bureau official, who was tragically shot in view of his wife. The casualties included two foreign nationals, one from the UAE and another from Nepal, alongside local residents.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was officially visiting Saudi Arabia at the time of the attack, shortened his trip to return to India promptly. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), he conveyed his profound sorrow over the tragedy. “I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir,” he expressed, extending condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. He assured that all necessary assistance is being extended to those affected.
