Sony Extends Warranty and Enhances Coverage for InZone Gaming Monitors
Sony is increasing the warranty period for some of its InZone gaming monitors, now offering a three-year limited warranty for select models. Additionally, the company is introducing coverage for OLED burn-in specifically for the new 27-inch M10S model. This announcement follows the release of both the InZone M10S OLED and M9 II LED monitors in September, which initially came with a one-year limited warranty.
Despite this enhancement, Sony has clarified that other aspects of the warranty terms will remain unchanged. This move marks a significant shift in the manufacturer’s approach to warranty coverage, particularly regarding burn-in issues that have historically plagued OLED screens.
Many manufacturers have traditionally been hesitant to address the topic of burn-in, often labeling it as “normal use” to reject warranty claims associated with it. This has been a common practice across various display technologies; however, OLED panels have been more vulnerable to this issue, particularly in environments where static images are displayed, such as in computer use. It’s worth noting that in recent years, advancements in OLED technology have led to improvements, making these screens less susceptible to burn-in than before.
In a related note, a Samsung representative indicated that their 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 model also features a three-year warranty that includes coverage for burn-in, emphasizing the growing recognition of the importance of such protection in the gaming community.
