Release Date Announced for Spinal Tap II
Fans of the iconic 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap have reason to celebrate, as the highly anticipated sequel, Spinal Tap II, has received a new release date. Initially scheduled for March 2024, the film’s release was postponed due to the Hollywood strikes that occurred in 2023. The updated premiere is now set for Friday, September 12, 2025, as reported by Deadline.
Bleecker Street will be responsible for distributing Spinal Tap II in the United States. Rob Reiner, who returns as the director and also as the character Martin “Marty” Di Bergi, expressed his enthusiasm in a recent statement, highlighting the collaboration with Bleecker Street. He remarked, “So happy to be working with the folks at Bleecker Street who are passionate about keeping Tap’s legacy alive and happy to give Marty DiBergi another shot at relevancy.”
The film promises to bring back beloved characters, with Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer returning to portray the members of the fictional band Spinal Tap: David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls, respectively. In addition to the main cast, fans can look forward to special appearances from musical legends such as Paul McCartney and Elton John, among others.
The anticipation surrounding Spinal Tap II reflects its cultural significance and enduring fan base, reminding audiences of the original film’s unique blend of humor and commentary on the music industry. As the release date approaches, excitement continues to build for this new chapter in the Spinal Tap saga.
