Twitch streamer Marlon Garcia found himself in a critical situation after an unfortunate accident led to Gorilla Glue being stuck in his eye. Medical professionals are currently assessing the severity of his injury and its potential to affect his vision permanently.
Garcia, known online as Marlon Lundgren Garcia, has cultivated a substantial following on Twitch, amassing more than 311,000 followers.
On April 22, during a livestream, he appeared wearing an eyepatch over his right eye and shared that he had been involved in an accident that could lead to permanent blindness.
Marlon explained that he initially noticed extreme redness in his right eye after waking up one morning. Despite the discomfort, he delayed seeking medical attention until his condition worsened the following day, affecting his left eye as well, which ultimately led him to visit Urgent Care.
“It’s been rough, to be honest,” Garcia recounted during his stream. “I woke up and my eye was incredibly red. I usually don’t visit doctors, so I thought it would resolve itself, but it got worse.”
Marlon later concluded that he may have inadvertently come into contact with the Gorilla Glue, a strong adhesive typically used for bonding materials, before touching his eye.
Twitch streamer could lose eye after Gorilla Glue incident
Upon consulting with healthcare professionals, he was immediately referred to an emergency room, where doctors expressed concerns that exposure to the toxic ingredients in the glue could lead to blindness.
Having recently relocated from Sweden, where he had access to universal healthcare, Garcia found himself navigating a complex and stressful situation without clear guidance on how to proceed.
Ultimately, doctors conveyed to him that the outlook for his eye was uncertain. They noted that immediate flushing of the eye is critical in such incidents, but Garcia had waited a full day before seeking treatment.
“They told me, ‘We’re giving you this treatment, but we honestly don’t know if it’s going to improve.’ It was that severe,” he said.
Support from the streaming community has been pouring in, with fans expressing their concern and hoping for a positive outcome as Marlon awaits updates on his condition. Yet, he is not the first content creator to experience a eye injury on stream.
For example, in 2024, fellow streamer Yourrage encountered a serious injury when an axe he was using while chopping wood struck his eye during a live session. Fortunately, with timely medical intervention, he was able to recover and continue his streaming career.
Gorilla Glue itself has gained notoriety for several viral incidents, including the famous case of Tessica Brown, who inadvertently applied it to her hair in place of hairspray, creating a social media sensation in 2021.
