Plans are underway for the much-anticipated third installment of the Student Of The Year franchise. Recent reports have confirmed that Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, has been signed on as the female lead in the upcoming film. In a further development, News18 Showsha has obtained exclusive information regarding the male lead.
According to a reliable insider, actor Tusharr Khanna has auditioned for the male protagonist’s role and is currently under consideration by the film’s producers. If chosen, he would star opposite Shanaya and alongside another male actor yet to be determined.
“Casting for the male lead has been extensive, and Tusharr’s audition was well-received. The casting team has expressed interest in bringing him on board as one of the leads, although no decisions have been finalized at this point,” shared a source closely linked to the production.
Despite efforts to reach out for comment, Tusharr Khanna opted not to respond regarding the rumors.
Tusharr is recognized for his performances in popular television series such as Naagin and Piya Albela. He made his film debut last year with the movie Starfish, though it did not perform well commercially.
The original Student of the Year film debuted in 2012 and helped launch the careers of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. The second installment was released in 2019, featuring Tiger Shroff alongside Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria, with Aditya Seal in a pivotal role.
Last year marked the 12th anniversary of the first Student Of The Year film, prompting Karan Johar to reflect on its impact through a heartfelt Instagram post. “Let’s start with… there’s something about ‘today,’ something very special!!! 12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was! #SOTY,” the acclaimed director wrote.
