Sushmita Sen’s Brother Rajeev Sen Refutes Charu Asopa’s Financial Struggles, Highlights Recent Cruise Trip
Discontent resurfaces between Sushmita Sen’s brother, Rajeev Sen, and his ex-wife, Charu Asopa, following her recent viral video.
In a clip that garnered widespread attention, actress Charu Asopa was seen promoting her new venture of selling salwar suits in Bikaner. Within the video, she suggested that she moved to Bikaner and started this business in light of purported financial difficulties. However, Rajeev Sen has openly challenged her narrative, asserting that Charu is not experiencing any financial woes.
In a discussion with Hindustan Times, Rajeev Sen expressed skepticism regarding Charu’s claims. He pointed out, “She could afford a cruise trip with her brother and his wife, which is quite a costly endeavor, and she covered everyone’s ticket. How does that align with any notion of financial hardship?”
Rajeev went on to allege that Charu is actively delving into the real estate market within Bikaner. “She’s considering purchasing a house there—or perhaps she has already done so—which clearly requires significant financial resources. Even factoring in a loan, acquiring property is no small expense. Moreover, if she is managing cruises and enjoys regular shopping—evidenced by her daily vlogs—it contradicts her claims of financial distress. Someone genuinely struggling wouldn’t even entertain the idea of buying a house,” he asserted.
Beyond disputing her financial status, Rajeev voiced frustration over not being able to see their daughter, Ziana. He mentioned that Charu has been unresponsive to his messages concerning visiting arrangements during her time in Bikaner. Furthermore, he criticized her choice to publicly discuss their private matters, particularly regarding finances.
Previously, Charu had shared insights about relocating from Mumbai to Bikaner in an interview with the same outlet. She explained, “Living in Mumbai is quite challenging; expenses stack up. My monthly costs were around Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh, including rent and other expenses, which was tough. Additionally, I felt uneasy leaving Ziana with a nanny when I was filming in Naigaon (Mumbai). It became extremely difficult. My return home and launch of my business was a well-thought-out decision; it wasn’t impulsive.”
Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen exchanged vows in 2019 and welcomed their daughter in 2021. The couple finalized their divorce in 2023.
