Suzanne Vega is gearing up for a much-anticipated comeback this May, revealing her first collection of new music in more than ten years.
Her latest album, titled Flying With Angels, marks Vega’s tenth studio release and is set to debut on May 2nd. “Flying With Angels is my first studio album of new songs in eleven years,” she shared about the project. “Each track explores a different facet of struggle—whether it’s to survive, to express oneself, to achieve, to break free, to assist others, or simply to exist.”
With the album announcement, Vega has also premiered its lead single “Speakers’ Corner,” which is accompanied by an animated music video created by Michael Arthur. “A Speakers’ Corner is a place where unrestricted dialogue, public speaking, and debate can occur,” Vega explained on her social media channels. “It’s crucial we utilize such spaces while we still have them!”

“The suppression of forums like Speakers’ Corner is detrimental to democracy,” she emphasized in a press release. “We live in a time where voices are loud but may not always convey truth or sense. Accountability in speech is vital; misleading statements cannot simply be overlooked. One would assume that this should be a given.”
Flying With Angels is Vega’s first studio album since the 2016 release of Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers, which was inspired by her prior play on the life of the renowned American writer. Her most recent album filled with original songs, Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles, was released in 2014.
The forthcoming album is also significant, arriving nearly 40 years after her self-titled debut, which peaked at No. 91 on the Billboard 200. Vega’s follow-up, the 1987 album Solitude Standing, achieved even greater acclaim, reaching No. 11, propelled largely by the hit “Luka,” which climbed to No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart. In a subsequent flourish, her a cappella gem “Tom’s Diner” re-entered the scene, courtesy of a DNA remix that landed at No. 5 on the charts three years later.
In addition to the album release, Vega has unveiled an extensive array of tour dates to promote the new music. She will kick off her Flying With Angels tour in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, on March 6, with plans for 40 performances across North America, Europe, and the UK throughout 2025.
