Hollywood Adaptation of *Split Fiction* Announced
The hit cooperative adventure game Split Fiction is set to make its way to the big screen, with Sydney Sweeney confirmed for a leading role. As reported by Variety, the film adaptation is being directed by Jon M. Chu, known for his work on Wicked, and features screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who have previously collaborated on Deadpool & Wolverine. Notably, Sweeney will also take on the role of executive producer for the adaptation.
Split Fiction tells the story of two authors, Mio and Zoe, who become ensnared in the fictional worlds of their own creation. While the specifics of Sweeney’s character have yet to be revealed, her involvement indicates a strong commitment to the project’s success.
Following the release of the video game in March, Variety noted a competitive bidding landscape for the film rights. Developed by Hazelight Studios, an indie game developer based in Sweden, Split Fiction revolves around split-screen combat while alternating between sci-fi and fantasy settings. The game experienced significant early success, selling two million copies within its first week. This achievement likely contributed to the rapid progression towards a film adaptation.
The project has been secured by Story Kitchen, a studio recognized for its adaptations of popular franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Tomb Raider. Despite the excitement surrounding the announcement, a release date for the film adaptation has yet to be disclosed.
