T-Mobile is informing certain customers on legacy plans about an impending price increase, as reported by 9to5Google. Users on the Reddit platform, particularly in the r/tmobile community, have shared that they received notifications indicating an adjustment of $5 per line per month, set to take effect on April 2nd.
An internal document obtained by CNET reveals that T-Mobile’s consumer group president, Jon Freier, believes the increase is necessary due to “rising costs” impacting the company. The memo mentioned that notifications would reach the affected customer base by the end of the day.
Though CNET has reported that it remains unclear which specific legacy plans will face these hikes, it does clarify that subscribers of the Go5G, Go5G Plus, and Go5G Next plans will not be affected. T-Mobile had previously raised the costs of some legacy plans by amounts ranging from $2 to $5 last year, and Freier indicated that lines that underwent previous increases wouldn’t be subject to further adjustments due to this latest announcement.
T-Mobile stated via its support account on X, “While most customers are not included, we’re wrapping up the price adjustments that began last year in response to rising costs. We are still committed to providing low prices and the most value across all plans.” Additionally, the company reassured that customers under Price Lock would remain unaffected by these changes, according to a follow-up message on X.
