Taha Shah Reflects on His 14-Year Journey in the Film Industry
Taha Shah, recognized for his role as Tajdar in the acclaimed series Heeramandi, first made waves in the Bollywood industry with his debut in Luv Ka The End alongside Shraddha Kapoor in 2011. Despite the film’s disappointing box office performance, Taha’s struggles did not end there. It has taken him 14 years of relentless effort and determination to reach a point in his career where he can selectively choose the projects he wishes to undertake.
In a revealing interview with News18 Showsha, Taha opened up about his tumultuous journey, sharing insights into the challenges he faced, his personal regrets, and the memorable moments from his early career, particularly highlighting the viral Mutton Song from his debut film.
Reflecting on his initial setbacks, Taha expressed, “Everyone experiences their share of breakdowns, and I am no exception.” He emphasized that it is completely natural to feel vulnerable and to sometimes contemplate giving up. “You cannot escape these feelings; they are part of life’s journey. Ultimately, the decision to persevere or to quit rests with you,” he added.
Taha recounted motivating himself to seize opportunities as long as he has breath. “Everyone faces personal struggles. Amidst all of this, I have the chance to pursue my dreams and passions,” he stated, acknowledging that he is still working towards his career’s pinnacle. He believes that recognizing his weaknesses and allowing himself the time and focus to develop them into strengths will eventually lead to his success.
When asked about any projects he might regret, Taha hesitated but eventually acknowledged a few titles. However, his takeaway is unwavering: each project has been a stepping stone in his career. “Every opportunity came into my life for a reason. Even when I engaged in projects like Bullets and Bekaboo 2 out of necessity, they provided valuable lessons about my true aspirations,” he reflected. He takes pride in the experiences that contributed to his growth as an artist.
Taha also reminisced about the iconic Mutton Song from Luv Ka The End, where he gained attention for his performance dressed as a woman. He noted that many legendary actors, including Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, have donned women’s attire in their performances. “On the day of the shoot, wearing the ghagra choli, something felt off until they brought me a wig, which completely transformed my character,” he recalled, explaining how this change boosted his confidence.
In an anecdote shared for the first time, Taha described the unexpected boost he received on set. After mistakenly pressing the wrong elevator button and stepping into a crowd of 200-300 formally dressed individuals, he used the moment to shake off his nerves and engage with the onlookers before proceeding with the shoot.
Looking ahead, Taha Shah is set to appear in an upcoming film entitled Paro, which addresses the issue of bride slavery. Further details regarding its release are anticipated soon.
