Samsung’s introduction of One UI 7, which is built on Android 15, has encountered several challenges. However, with the forthcoming One UI 8 expected to be based on Android 16, there’s hope for a smoother launch. Google has been extensively testing Android 16 and plans to officially release it by the end of June, which is earlier than in previous years.
Reports suggest that Samsung has initiated internal testing for One UI 8. Recent leaks have provided glimpses into the design and features of this anticipated Android interface. Notably, major design alterations were implemented with One UI 7, and early indications for One UI 8 suggest that it will maintain the existing aesthetic while upgrading the core operating system to Android 16.
The leaked version appears to be running on a Galaxy Z Fold6, and while there are no dramatic visual overhauls, minor tweaks are noticeable. The most significant updates have been made to applications such as Gallery and the file manager. It remains possible that further enhancements will emerge in upcoming pre-release versions of One UI 8.
An interesting development is that the Now Brief feature is reportedly set to be available for older devices with One UI 8, highlighting Samsung’s commitment to updating its wider device range during this upgrade.
Considering the relatively minor changes indicated in this early build, there is optimism that Samsung might expedite the release of One UI 8 compared to the timeline for One UI 7. Users and enthusiasts alike are eager for a more efficient rollout.
