Ohio Teacher Faces Charges for Following Student Home Over Homework
An Ohio middle school educator is facing legal consequences after reportedly following a student home to address a missing homework assignment.
William Hilt, employed at Hull Prairie Intermediate School in Perrysburg, Ohio, is accused of tracking a female student’s school bus to her residence in March 2025.
During this incident, one of the student’s parents arrived home to find Hilt confronting her about her homework. When questioned about his motives, he stated his intention was to ensure she completed the assignment.
Hilt explained that he had promised his class a pizza party contingent on everyone finishing their homework, and he wanted to confirm she was participating to make the reward possible.

The following day, the student’s parents sent an email to the school expressing their concerns about Hilt’s unannounced visit, describing the situation as “really weird” and “concerning.”
According to Action 13 News, the school administration placed Hilt on administrative leave before the next day, and he remains on leave as investigations continue.
On April 1, 2025, Hilt appeared in court to answer charges of criminal trespassing, to which he pleaded ‘not guilty.’ He will stay on leave while the district court evaluates the situation.
In a statement, Perrysburg Schools emphasized, “The well-being of our students remains our highest priority, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities. Perrysburg Schools is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.”
They further added, “Staff members are expected to uphold professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment in accordance with their legal, professional, and ethical responsibilities. When a staff member’s actions do not align with these standards, the district will take action.”
This incident follows a series of troubling events in educational settings, including a 33-year-old teacher from the Bronx who gained attention for her controversial actions, which included mocking the Department of Education and excessively texting a student over 28,000 times.
