Teddi Mellencamp Shares Recovery Journey Following Brain Surgery
Teddi Mellencamp is in the process of recovery after undergoing brain surgery to remove four tumors. The reality television star documented her emotional homecoming via a series of videos on Instagram, following a hospital stay that lasted over two weeks.
One poignant video features the uplifting song “I’m Coming Home” by Skylar Grey, which Teddi sings along to. She expressed her relief, stating, “16 days and I get to go home!!! Thank you to all my loves and life savers for getting me to this day!”
As she documented her recovery journey, Teddi was seen walking slowly on her treadmill. In this clip, she candidly reflected on the physical changes she experienced due to the medications associated with her brain tumors. “Obviously very emotional watching your body change with so much medication from the brain tumors. But just trying to remember how grateful I am that I can move my body again,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of taking one day at a time to regain her strength.
The former star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” also showed the bruises on her arms, affirming, “Bruising and swelling, but I know I can do this. F**k off tears, I can do hard things.” Such candid revelations have resonated with her followers, showcasing her determination during a challenging period.
In a demonstration of her commitment to recovery, Teddi participated in a cold plunge in a vibrant green swimsuit, mentioning that her doctor approved the activity. She further indicated her ongoing wellness efforts by sharing her plans to follow up with a sauna session. A few days prior, she had posted a selfie indicating that her staples were out and that she was preparing for radiation therapy.
On February 12, Teddi publicly announced that doctors had discovered “multiple tumors” in her brain, prompting the need for surgery to address the two most significant ones, with plans to manage the smaller tumors through radiation. Her decision to seek medical attention came after experiencing severe headaches that ultimately led to hospitalization and subsequent imaging tests that revealed the tumors.
Subsequent to her surgery, the 43-year-old shared on social media that the medical team had removed four tumors instead of the initially anticipated two. She expressed immense gratitude towards the healthcare professionals involved in her surgery, saying, “I am so grateful for the incredible surgeons, doctor, and nurses who made my surgery a success and my recovery process comfortable.” She also acknowledged the emotional support from her family and friends, describing it as a significant source of strength.
As she prepares to transition to the next phase of her treatment, Teddi is overwhelmed by the messages of support and prayers from her followers, which she acknowledges have been encouraging during her fight against cancer.
Teddi has long been an advocate for melanoma awareness, having shared her personal journey with the disease over the years. Just a year ago, she opened up about the recurrence of her melanoma, highlighting her struggles and the challenges she faced with medical evaluations, including being denied life insurance.
In past interviews, she has encouraged others to actively participate in melanoma awareness campaigns, notably promoting the “Get Naked” initiative aimed at encouraging skin checks and preventive measures against skin cancer.
