Teddy Swims and Giveon Strike a Chord with “Are You Even Real”
Teddy Swims and Giveon have captivated listeners with their collaborative track “Are You Even Real,” which has come out on top in this week’s new music poll featuring a diverse array of artists.
The song was recognized as the leading new release in a poll showcased on Billboard on January 10.
In this poll, “Are You Even Real” secured approximately 34% of the votes, outpacing other notable releases including Wallows’ “Your New Favorite Song,” Jade’s “IT Girl,” Lil Baby’s extended edition of WHAM, and Warren Zeiders’ “Can a Heart Take.”
Following a successful 2024 that included his chart-topping single “Lose Control,” Swims collaborated with Giveon on this catchy soul-pop track, which acts as a teaser for Swims’ forthcoming album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy, Part 2, scheduled to drop on January 24.
The collaboration showcases the emotional depth of Swims’ vocals alongside Giveon’s rich, deep tones, creating a delightful juxtaposition that is beautifully highlighted by the track’s harmonies in the later segments.
In addition to the poll success, Swims is celebrating personal news: he and his partner, fellow artist Raiche Wright, have announced they are expecting their first child. This joyful update was shared by Wright on Instagram on January 8, where she posted photos from a beach day that displayed her growing baby bump. The couple, who made their relationship public in early 2024, have also performed together on stage, with Wright joining Swims on his tour for duet performances.
Coming in second place in the poll is Wallows’ “Your New Favorite Song,” which received 25% of the votes. This ethereal pop-rock offering is set to become a significant hit for the Los Angeles-based trio, who have cultivated a dedicated fanbase through relentless touring over the past few years.
