An urgent update for Tekken 8 has just been released, aimed at addressing numerous issues that arose during Season 2. The new patch, version 2.00.02, introduces a wide array of adjustments, including significant nerfs affecting the majority of the character roster and systemic changes to the Heat mechanics.
Season 2’s initial launch faced heavy criticism from players, prompting professional gamers to step away from the game and leading to a massive wave of negative reviews on Steam. The backlash was severe enough to nearly downgrade the game’s overall rating to Mostly Negative.
In response to the outcry, Bandai Namco lead producer Katsuhiro Harada expressed regret regarding the rollout of the patch, assuring players that the development team was fully engaged in rectifying the issues. While they did not promise a complete overhaul, the changes implemented in Tekken 8 v2.00.02 endeavor to address some of the most significant concerns raised by the community.
Notable nerfs include adjustments for characters such as Anna, Lars, King, and Paul, along with broader system changes intended to ease escape from wall pressure during matches. Additionally, minor nerfs have been applied to various other characters.
