Explosion at Tesla Supercharger Station Under Investigation in Lacey, Washington
A Tesla Supercharger station in Lacey, Washington, sustained significant damage, potentially due to an explosion. The Lacey Police Department is currently looking into the matter, with the FBI also involved, following a series of vandalism incidents connected to Tesla vehicles.
According to local authorities, they received reports of a “loud noise” at approximately 1:34 AM PT. Officers responded to a location near a Target store on Sleater Kinney Road, where they found the Tesla Supercharger station damaged. The police have categorized the incident as “malicious mischief,” a term that refers to the intentional destruction of property, and they are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the FBI.
In a statement via social media, Tesla’s Supercharger account indicated that the company is collaborating with law enforcement officials at the scene. They are currently examining surveillance footage and working with local utility provider Puget Sound Energy. The account emphasized, “Don’t mess with critical infrastructure,” highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
This incident is part of a troubling trend of vandalism targeting Tesla. Reports have emerged of vehicles being set ablaze, showrooms being vandalized, and charging stations being damaged. Such actions have drawn strong reactions, including from former President Donald Trump, who labeled these acts as “domestic terrorism.” In response to these ongoing attacks, the FBI has established a task force to investigate the series of incidents.
