Fort Worth Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Exorcism Attempt
A man from Fort Worth is now in custody following the tragic death of his mother during what authorities describe as an attempted “exorcism.” According to the Fort Worth Police Department, Alexander Taylor Valdez, 23, has been arrested and is facing serious charges related to the incident.
Police were alerted after an anonymous caller reported receiving a concerning photo via Snapchat. The image depicted a woman lying on the ground, covered in a red substance that appeared to be blood. Following this tip, law enforcement arrived at Valdez’s residence, where he answered the door with a Bible in hand.
Upon their arrival, officers noticed that Valdez had blood visible on his face, neck, torso, hands, and feet. In an alarming statement, he reportedly described the situation as “an exorcism,” and when questioned about the blood, he candidly replied, “I was doing witchcraft to kill my mom.”
As officers continued their investigation, Valdez confessed to the existence of a deceased individual in the house, stating, “There is a dead body in there. It’s my mom.” This led police to discover his mother, 58-year-old Teresita Sayson, along with a dog, both unresponsive in the master bedroom.
Authorities have reported that Sayson displayed signs of severe trauma, particularly to her face and upper body. Evidence suggests that Valdez allegedly used a “blunt force object” during the attack. A subsequent search of the home uncovered what is believed to be the murder weapon—a broken jewelry box containing blood and human hair, located in the same room as the victim.
Currently, Valdez is being held on a bond set at $750,000 and is charged with murder. This tragic event has raised numerous questions about mental health, family dynamics, and the desperate actions that can stem from such situations.
