Upcoming Film Thama from the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Set to Star Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna
As 2025 unfolds, Ayushmann Khurrana is preparing to commence filming in Delhi for his latest project, Thama, where he stars alongside Rashmika Mandanna. This film adds to the excitement surrounding the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which has generated significant buzz with its innovative blend of horror and comedy.
The latest update reveals that filming for Thama’s second schedule will kick off in Delhi early next week, continuing until mid-January. This follows a brief shooting stint in Mumbai that concluded last year. Fans can expect fresh and thrilling scenes as the crew transitions to the capital.
Over the weekend, Ayushmann Khurrana shared a cheerful selfie on his Instagram Stories, showcasing his laid-back style in a white t-shirt, beige puffer jacket, sunglasses, and a face mask. He accompanied the image with a Hindi caption expressing his excitement about heading to Delhi.
Thama was officially introduced in October 2024, accompanied by an intriguing title video set to an intense soundtrack. The film’s tagline cleverly hints at its dark twist: “Dinesh Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe needed a love story… unfortunately, it’s a bloody one. Brace yourselves for #Thama – Diwali 2025!”
This project is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for his previous work in Munjya, and features a notable cast that includes Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The screenplay has been crafted by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, under the production banner of Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. Thama is expected to make a significant splash during its Diwali release, drawing crowds with its unique narrative approach.
In addition to Thama, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is in the pipeline with several other projects, such as Shakti Shalini, Bhediya 2, Chamunda, Stree 3, Maha Munjya, Pehla Mahayudh, and Doosara Mahayudh. This strategy highlights the franchise’s intent to expand its creative horizons while maintaining audience engagement.
On a personal note, Ayushmann Khurrana is also preparing for an upcoming spy comedy, produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, where he will be seen alongside Sara Ali Khan, under the direction of Aakash Kaushik. Moreover, reports suggest that he has been cast as the new Prem in Sooraj Barjatya’s much-anticipated family drama. Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna is fresh off her remarkable success in Pushpa 2, where she shared the screen with Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, further solidifying her status in the industry.
