Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa celebrated their engagement during the finale of The Bachelor, which aired on March 24. This moment came after Grant faced what he described as an “impossible” dilemma between Juliana and the runner-up, Litia Garr. Nonetheless, he was determined not to leave the Dominican Republic without proposing.
“I wasn’t going to go through that and not get down on one knee,” he explained to Bustle. “I knew what commitment meant to me, especially after being in a relationship for seven years. A proposal symbolizes that commitment, and leaving without one was simply not an option.”
Although Grant was certain about his path on The Bachelor, he found revisiting the season challenging after filming wrapped five months ago. Juliana chose to forgo watching the finale altogether. “I had a tough time watching the show back,” admitted Grant, who has been leaning on their new puppy, Star, for emotional support during this recollection. “She’s like an emotional support dog for me.”
In their upcoming life together, Grant and Juliana plan to integrate their pets; Juliana’s dog, Charlie, will join Star. The couple is also looking forward to starting a new chapter in Boston, where Juliana currently resides.
Before embarking on this new adventure, the couple took the opportunity to reflect on their experiences during the season of The Bachelor and clarified some details regarding the timeline of events.
Congratulations to you both! What’s the most surprising part of life together so far?
Juliana: It’s the fact that we’re learning new things about each other daily, which enhances our understanding and deepens our love for one another.
What have you learned?
Juliana: I’ve discovered that he’s quite the cook! He enjoys cooking, and I certainly enjoy eating.
What’s your signature dish, Grant?
Grant: I’d say a nice ribeye steak, basted in butter, served with either mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.
That sounds delicious. Juliana, can you share a thoughtful way Grant has shown his support over the last few months?
Juliana: He’s been an excellent support system throughout this experience. He navigates his own emotions but consistently prioritizes mine. It comes naturally to him; he’s genuinely caring.
Grant, I recently came across Neil Lane’s comments about your engagement ring and how well it reflects your relationship with Juliana. When you chose the ring, were you certain about your decision?
Grant: I’m familiar with Jules’ style, and I have a good sense of what suits her. While there were many moments during the season that were challenging, I absolutely knew what I wanted when it came to the ring.
As viewers, we didn’t catch your “aha” moment. When did it become clear to you that Juliana was the one?
Grant: It was around the hometown dates. Meeting Juliana’s family helped solidify my feelings. My father’s conversation with me during the finale also offered the encouragement I needed to trust my heart and pursue what I felt was right, despite any external pressures. It was grounding for me.
