A Love Story: Quinten Richardson and Elif Erguvan’s Journey to the Altar
Quinten Richardson recounts his first meeting with Elif Erguvan as nothing short of miraculous. In 2021, while walking through London and focused on his phone, he did not notice an oncoming black cab. A stranger intervened, pulling him to safety just in time. Grateful and in a state of disbelief, Quinten’s immediate reaction was, “You saved my life. How can I ever repay you?”
Elif’s response was lighthearted: “How about a drink?”
Fast forward to two years later, the couple found themselves engaged on a rainy evening in Notting Hill. Quinten, a city planner, suggested they dine at The Pelican, a local pub. Once inside a private room, he dropped to one knee, and moments after she accepted his proposal, their close friends and family emerged, having secretly waited outside.
The couple is set to marry in August 2024 in Provence, a region close to Quinten’s heart. “I spent many summers in the South of France, especially in Mougins, where my family has owned a home for nearly 20 years,” he shares. After several shared trips to Mougins, it became clear that they wanted their wedding to take place in the area, ultimately choosing Château d’Estoublon, a historic estate transformed into a hotel and vineyard.
Working alongside Brussels-based wedding planner Guendalina Litta Modignani, the couple, who now manage a design and development firm named Superattico together, embarked on creating a wedding weekend that was unique and imaginative.
The celebration kicked off with a welcome party at Carrières des Lumières, a repurposed quarry now serving as an art center. The location was kept a secret from the guests until their arrival, while they were informed only of the dress code, “nuit blanche,” which translates to white night.
The surprise element added to the anticipation of the evening. “Our guests arrived in complete awe at the interior of Carrières des Lumières, welcomed with Champagne and a mesmerizing space showcasing dynamic scenes of impressionist art,” recounts Elif. Dining at long, elegantly lit tables, the attendees enjoyed a family-style meal accompanied by the sounds of a harpist playing in the background.
Inspired by the raw, industrial aesthetic of the venue, Elif donned a light, flowing taffeta and silk gown designed by her sister, owner of the fashion brand Ila. “The juxtaposition of soft fabric against the rugged stone made for a striking yet effortless impression,” Elif explains. Quinten complemented her look with a stylish ensemble from Bode.
