The Education Exchange: New Study Highlights Other Ways Divorce is Bad for Children
A recent study has revealed that children from divorced families face significant long-term disadvantages, including a decreased likelihood of pursuing higher education and an increased risk of premature mortality.
Wolfgang Frimmel, an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at Johannes Kepler University Linz, has collaborated with Paul E. Peterson to delve into these findings. Their research specifically investigates the causal relationship between parental divorce and its effects on children’s educational achievements and overall life outcomes.
The paper titled “How does parental divorce affect children’s long-term outcomes?,” co-authored with Martin Halla and Rudolf Winter-Ebmer, is now published in the Journal of Public Economics.
