Christina Haack Sets Boundaries After Three Marriages
Christina Haack, the well-known star of HGTV, has made it clear that she is taking a step back from romantic commitments following her three unsuccessful marriages. During the season finale of her new show “The Flip Off,” Haack discussed her personal life in a conversation with guest judge Jeff Lewis.
Lewis complimented Haack, saying, “You’re a very attractive, successful woman. I’m sure you’re going to date a lot. … Do we have to marry them all?” To which Haack firmly replied, “No, no. No more marriages,” as reported by People.
Haack’s Marital History
Christina Haack’s journey through marriage began with Tarek El Moussa, whom she wed in 2009. The couple, who shares two children, Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, became familiar faces on their HGTV reality series “Flip or Flop,” running from 2013 to 2022. Their divorce in 2018 marked the beginning of a shift in both their personal and professional lives.
Following her split from El Moussa, Haack entered a relationship with Ant Anstead, her second husband, with whom she welcomed son Hudson, now 5. That marriage lasted from 2018 until their separation in 2021. Haack’s most recent marriage was to Josh Hall, which started in 2022 but ended with their divorce filing in July 2024.
Divorce and Show Dynamics
Both Haack and Hall submitted their divorce papers this past July. Just before their separation, they filmed segments for “The Flip Off,” which also featured Tarek El Moussa and his new wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. However, Josh Hall’s presence was limited to the show’s premiere episode due to their ongoing divorce.
Heather Rae El Moussa reflected on the change in the show’s dynamic without Hall, stating, “I thought that our dynamic was better. I think with Josh, it would have been heavily tense… it’s very lighthearted and fun,” highlighting the ease of their interaction after Hall’s exit.
Filming Challenges
During the show, Haack revealed her experiences with filming alongside Hall, mentioning that the house she bought for a flip was actually selected by him, as he had planned to handle much of the renovation work. After their split, the responsibility fell squarely on her shoulders. To manage the project, she enlisted contractor Michael Lange and designer Kylie Wing for assistance.
Reflecting on Hall’s ambitious renovation ideas, Haack shared, “He had these grandiose plans to do this huge addition back here, and that just would not have paid off for the neighborhood,” agreeing with Lewis that they were not in sync with their plans.
Personal Reflections
This season of “The Flip Off” has provided Haack with a platform to delve into her personal life, including an emotional exchange with Tarek. She opened up about her pattern of rushing into new relationships, even when knowing they may not be suitable for her.
“I feel like I try to hide and act like I’m not affected, but then I just do more stupid things to try to make myself feel better,” Haack admitted. “I just keep doing it and getting into things too fast that I know aren’t right.”
As Haack navigates her career and parental responsibilities, her reflection on her relationships may serve as a crucial turning point in her pursuit of personal fulfillment.
