The past week has been pivotal for the FIA and the World Rally Championship (WRC), with developments that may significantly influence the future of the sport.
Initially, a breakthrough was achieved between the FIA and the World Rally Drivers Alliance (WoRDA), leading to the reinstatement of stage-end interviews. In a related move, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem nominated Malcolm Wilson, the founder of M-Sport-Ford, to succeed Robert Reid as deputy president for sport. “This is a positive sign, as the FIA is starting to find solutions,” remarked Ott Tanak of Hyundai to Autosport. “It’s a step towards building trust, and while there are many issues to address, this is a commendable first move.”
