Reactions Emerge Following Release of Epstein Files
The recent unveiling of federal documents concerning Jeffrey Epstein has ignited frustration among various factions, particularly on the political right. Critics expressed their dissatisfaction on Thursday, noting that the much-anticipated release failed to provide significant new insights and instead reiterated details that had previously been made public.
“THIS IS NOT WHAT WE OR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ASKED FOR and a complete disappointment,” declared Representative Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican on the House Oversight Committee, wrote on social media platform X. She emphasized that her committee had not yet assessed the newly released documents, demanding, “GET US THE INFORMATION WE ASKED FOR!”
Former One America News Network host Liz Wheeler, who had access to the documents, expressed her disappointment as well, alleging that the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York withheld critical evidence that could shed light on the case.
“We’re talking recordings, evidence, etc. The juicy stuff. Names,” Wheeler posted. Her comments suggested a perception of betrayal, as she criticized the U.S. attorney’s office for not revealing substantial findings.
The Independent has reached out to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for a statement regarding these concerns.
Jeffrey Epstein, who was connected with numerous prominent figures across various fields, took his own life in 2019 while awaiting trial in a New York jail.
The seemingly lackluster revelations from the newly released documents triggered some to speculate about potential conspiracies regarding the Epstein files—speculation that has long circulated across political divides.
“The Epstein files are a total joke,” conservative commentator Glenn Beck commented on X. He pointedly questioned alleged interference with the current administration.
Attorney General Pam Bondi echoed concerns about undisclosed materials, asserting that the FBI Field Office in New York holds thousands of additional documents related to Epstein’s investigation. In a letter addressing FBI Director Kash Patel, she stated, “Despite my repeated requests, the FBI never disclosed the existence of these files.”
Bondi further emphasized her surprise during a conversation with Patel, urging for “the full and complete Epstein files” to be submitted by the following morning and prompting an inquiry into the lack of compliance with her requests.
Patel responded, stating, “If there are gaps, we will find them. If records have been hidden, we will uncover them.”
The information released included flight logs, Epstein’s contact lists, and an evidence catalog—much of which had previously been disclosed in other investigations. However, it did reveal that Epstein had notable names like Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Alec Baldwin, and Naomi Campbell listed in his contacts.
