The PGA Tour has announced that Tiger Woods will not participate in The Players Championship, as he was not included in the final roster for the event taking place next week at TPC Sawgrass. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Woods will be absent from the tournament, and he has not played in an official event since missing the cut at The Open last July due to ongoing injuries.
At 49 years old, Woods has faced significant challenges in recent years, including a limited playing schedule. His attempt to return at The Genesis Invitational last month was thwarted when he withdrew following the passing of his mother, Kultida, the week prior, stating he was “just not ready” to compete.
During a recent appearance on TGL, Woods shared that he is struggling to find motivation to practice, as he balances his grief with his commitments on the PGA Tour board and ongoing discussions about the future of men’s golf. Despite his current circumstances, he expressed a desire to play more frequently in 2025 and had planned to participate in events leading up to The Masters, which is scheduled from April 10-13.
