Gabby Windey Opens Up About Her Journey on The Traitors
This Thursday marks another exciting episode of The Traitors, set against the picturesque backdrop of Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands. Among the standout personalities of this season is Gabby Windey, who has recently shared some intriguing insights during a discussion with The Cut.
Windey, known for her time on The Bachelorette, talked about the surprises she encountered on the reality series, hosted by Alan Cummings. A recent moment on the show elicited reactions when co-contestant Danielle Reyes commented on Windey’s contributions, implying they had been limited to merely “looking cute.”
Reflecting on this, Windey expressed her long-standing role as an underdog, stating, “I’m always an underdog… People underestimate me, but there’s a lot going on upstairs.” This sentiment highlights a common theme in reality television, where appearances can often overshadow deeper skills and strategies.
In the course of the interview, Windey, who publicly identified as a lesbian after her stint on The Bachelorette and is currently in a relationship with comedian Robby Hoffman, described the dynamics within The Traitors house. She remarked, “It was such a microcosm of society,” revealing that the interactions reminded her of larger societal behaviors.
“I was always fighting with the men,” Windey noted, reflecting on the gender dynamics within the competition. She humorously added that she is typically surrounded by women in her life, with only her father and manager being male, which sometimes led to a disconnect when navigating interactions in the show’s competitive atmosphere.
Interestingly, Windey disclosed that she had initially declined the opportunity to join The Traitors but changed her mind after the show’s success at the Emmy Awards. She did express curiosity about her fellow contestants but found that show creators kept the cast information under wraps until the official reveal. She quipped, “They won’t tell you who’s on the cast. That’s something I’m learning with events I go to: I want to know the guest list. Make it worth my while.”
This season boasts a roster of notable personalities, potentially making it one of the most star-studded outings yet. Among the featured contestants are Dylan Efron, brother of Zac Efron, Sam Asghari, the ex-husband of Britney Spears, Tom Sandoval from Vanderpump Rules, and renowned figures from Survivor and Big Brother, such as Boston Rob (Rob Mariano), Reyes, and Carolyn Wiger.
Catch the latest twists and turns of The Traitors Season 3, airing every Thursday at 9 p.m. on Peacock.
