Nintendo’s Alarmo Alarm Clock Now Widely Available
After a limited availability since its soft launch last year, Nintendo’s charming Alarmo clock is finally accessible for purchase through various third-party retailers in the United States. Best Buy has taken the lead in offering the $99.99 device, while customers can also buy directly from the official Nintendo store, provided they log in using a Nintendo account.
The unveiling of Alarmo came in October, coinciding with the growing anticipation for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, which is scheduled for release later this year. While the Alarmo may not generate the same level of excitement as a new gaming console, it embodies Nintendo’s signature quirky charm, presenting a playful design reminiscent of classic alarm clocks but infused with contemporary functionality.
Sporting a vivid red hue, the Alarmo features a rounded face with an LCD display and a prominent illuminated button atop the device. The 2.8-inch display not only shows the time and date but also engages users with audio and visual cues from various iconic Nintendo franchises. Users can wake up to scenes featuring beloved characters such as Link, Mario, and Pikmin, with a total of 35 scenes available across five franchises, and Nintendo has hinted at future downloadable content to enrich the experience.
Equipped with an integrated motion sensor, the clock adapts to the user’s movements. Its alarm functionality becomes progressively assertive, encouraging those who struggle to wake up. Once the user is out of bed, the alarm will cease. The device also includes a button mode for a more conventional alarm clock experience, allowing users to start or stop alarms and adjust settings through simple taps and twists.
In addition to its unique wake-up features, Alarmo can activate sleep sounds when it’s time for bed and offers insight into sleep patterns. It can even emit hourly chimes to help maintain awareness of time throughout the day. While individually, these functions may not perform at the level of dedicated devices, the whimsical design and playful nature of the Alarmo make it a charming addition to any bedside table.
