The View Hosts Unique Line-up with Former Cohosts

On the December 3 edition of The View, the usual ensemble was notably absent, featuring only two cohosts at the table: Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin. The absence of Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin was addressed by Goldberg, who stated, “If you’re wondering what’s going on, there’s nothing wrong with your television set.” Ana Navarro was also absent, as her schedule obligates her only for Fridays and Mondays.

To fill the empty seats, producers reached out to Abby Huntsman, a previous regular on the show who has expressed critical views about her time on The View, and Rachel Lindsay, who is known for her role on The Bachelorette. Goldberg acknowledged Huntsman’s willingness to return on short notice, despite her earlier frustrations with the show, and described her as a true professional.

Huntsman shared that she received the call to substitute for the missing cohosts while attending to household chores. She humorously recounted her initial response to receiving the call from executive producer Brian Teta, indicating her readiness to return as long as Whoopi was present. “It’s kind of like deja vu,” Huntsman quipped, referencing the current political landscape with Donald Trump back in the spotlight.

Goldberg then welcomed Lindsay, who expressed the commitment involved in being called back to participate, noting the camaraderie of sharing the table with her fellow hosts.

Both guest cohosts quickly jumped into discussions, with Huntsman addressing the topic of President Joe Biden’s recent pardon of his son, Hunter Biden. She reflected on the significant changes since Biden’s previous visit to the show, recalling his promise to unite the country and serve as a “palate cleanser” after the Trump administration. Huntsman expressed concern that Biden’s legacy is overshadowed by the current controversies he faces, including pardoning his son for criminal offenses and feeling estranged from his own party.

Lindsay responded by emphasizing a broader perspective, stating that the focus should shift away from individual politicians and towards holding them accountable for their policies. She argued that trust in politicians has diminished and suggested that the public should prioritize enduring policies over personalities. “We need to move on. We need to pick up the pieces from this election,” Lindsay asserted, advocating for a proactive approach in the coming years, irrespective of Biden’s decisions regarding his son.

The View airs on weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
