Naomi Watts and Bill Murray Bring Their Great Dane to “The View”

On Tuesday morning, actors Naomi Watts and Bill Murray made a memorable appearance on “The View,” accompanied by their Great Dane co-star, Bing. The furry companion, however, appeared to have some reservations about being on stage.

The trio is promoting their upcoming film “The Friend,” and as they made their entrance, host Joy Behar light-heartedly remarked that Watts and Murray’s “horse” seemed a bit anxious and jumpy. Watts quickly clarified that the loud applause in the studio could be overwhelming for a dog.

“That was a lot of noise, even I got up to leave,” noted Whoopi Goldberg, empathizing with Bing’s reaction. “I mean, I felt the same way he did.”

After a brief adjustment period, Bing found comfort on a large dog bed positioned on a separate small stage, allowing Watts and Murray to delve into conversations about their film. As Murray described Bing as “nothing short of miraculous,” the audience responded with applause for the well-behaved dog.

However, Bing’s comfort was short-lived. In a moment of excitement, he jumped up and dashed offstage toward his owner, prompting Watts to quip, “No clapping I guess.” When Bing was gently returned to the stage, Murray humorously suggested that the dog’s owner had simply wanted a moment on television.

Bing eventually settled back down, but not for long. When the applause erupted again after host Sara Haines asked a question aimed at the dog, Bing sprang up and exited the stage once more.

“Can I just say that I think when the claps happen, he thinks he’s done a trick and now he gets a treat,” Watts laughed. “Because that’s what we would do, is we would clap.”

“It’s kind of fun to see the dog jump; go ahead and clap,” Murray encouraged, sharing in the light-hearted atmosphere.

Ultimately, Bing was rewarded with a few treats and managed to return to his designated spot, where he remained for the remainder of the segment and even into the next one, following a commercial break. In that second segment, Bing opted for a more relaxed approach, snuggling up on his bed and nearly dozing off.

Clearly, it had been a ruff morning for the Great Dane.
