As anticipated, the Vivo X200 Ultra has officially launched, poised to become one of the leading camera smartphones of 2025. However, its release is currently limited to China, echoing the same regional exclusivity of its predecessor, the Vivo X100 Ultra.
Despite the geographic limitation, the Vivo X200 Ultra stands out as a formidable Android flagship, renowned not only for its innovative camera features but also for its high-performance specifications. At its core lies Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which also powers other high-end devices, such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Equipped with a robust 6,000 mAh battery, the phone supports rapid 90W wired charging alongside 40W wireless charging, providing users with efficient and versatile power solutions. The device boasts a 6.82-inch QHD+ OLED display featuring LTPO technology and an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits, positioning it among the brightest screens in the smartphone market. Additionally, the phone is rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance, ensuring durability in various environments.
Notable features of the Vivo X200 Ultra include dual stereo speakers, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, an infrared blaster, and the latest OriginOS 5 based on Android 15. In terms of memory and storage, the device starts with a base model of 12 GB RAM paired with 256 GB of internal storage, while a premium version offers 16 GB RAM with a substantial 1 TB of storage, also integrating satellite communication capabilities. Pricing begins around 6,499 yuan (approximately $890) for the entry model, climbing to 7,999 yuan ($1,100) for the top configuration. The phone is available in three colors: Silver, Red, and Black.
The Camera: A Unique Offering

Where the Vivo X200 Ultra truly excels is in its camera capabilities, which feature a distinctive and versatile setup. The primary camera utilizes a 50 MP Sony LYT-818 sensor with a 35 mm focal length, differing from the conventional 24mm found in most smartphones today. While the sensor is slightly smaller compared to the 1-inch sensors seen in some competitors, its 35mm perspective is often regarded as “more natural” by photography enthusiasts.
Alongside the main camera, the ultrawide lens also incorporates the 50 MP LYT-818 sensor, this time with a 14mm focal length (f/2.0), ensuring exceptional image quality and enhanced low-light performance. One of the standout features is the 200 MP periscope telephoto camera, employing Samsung’s Isocell HP9 sensor, which offers 3.7x optical zoom with a close macro focus of 15 cm. This camera now boasts a wider f/2.27 aperture for improved performance.
Vivo enhances the user experience further by offering an optional 2.35x telephoto converter lens. This accessory magnetically attaches to the camera via a special grip, transforming the periscope lens into an effective 8.7x zoom camera (equivalent to a focal length of 200 mm). Vivo asserts that this configuration can achieve clear images at up to 35x zoom, with competitive clarity even at 70x.
This camera grip accessory comes with its own 2,300 mAh battery, dedicated buttons for video and photo capture, a zoom control dial, and a detachable shoulder strap for added convenience. The complete Photographer Kit, which comprises the lens, grip, strap, phone case, and the 16 GB RAM/1 TB version of the phone, is priced at 9,699 yuan (around $1,329).
As the Vivo X200 Ultra enters the market, it raises the bar for smartphone photography, appealing to both tech enthusiasts and avid photographers alike.
