In a heartbreaking incident in Las Vegas, former contestant of “The Voice,” Ryan Whyte Maloney, reportedly took his own life following a heated dispute with his fiancée regarding a jacket, as detailed in the police report.

The confrontation began in the early hours of Tuesday morning as Maloney, who was said to be under the influence, and his fiancée had an argument in their vehicle after leaving the New York-New York Hotel and Casino.

According to the fiancée’s account to the authorities, the couple was driving home when she inquired about the whereabouts of her jacket. This seemingly innocuous question escalated tensions, prompting Ryan to express his frustration by using offensive language before allegedly retrieving a handgun from the glove compartment and exiting the car.

The fiancée reported that after hearing a gunshot, she rolled down her window and called out for Ryan, but by that point, he had already exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Moments later, she witnessed another shot and saw him collapse to the ground with a fatal injury.

Emergency responders were summoned by the fiancée, but upon their arrival, they pronounced Ryan dead at the scene.

Surveillance footage from both the MGM Grand and New York-New York casinos revealed moments leading up to the tragic event. Prior to this incident, police noted that Maloney had struggled with suicidal thoughts and bore visible self-inflicted wounds on his arms.

Ryan Whyte Maloney gained public recognition during his appearance on the sixth season of “The Voice” in 2014, where he performed Journey’s iconic song “Lights” to impress Blake Shelton during the blind auditions.
