The Who’s TOMMY National Tour Postponed to Fall 2026
The highly anticipated national tour of The Who’s iconic rock opera, TOMMY, has been rescheduled and will now debut in Fall 2026. Initially set to start in Fall 2025 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, this change marks a significant adjustment for fans and the touring production team alike. The Broadway revival of TOMMY previously captivated audiences with 21 previews and 132 regular performances at the Nederlander Theatre.
TOMMY combines mythological elements and a thrilling spectacle, presenting an unforgettable musical experience featuring powerful anthems such as “I’m Free,” “See Me, Feel Me,” “Sensation,” and the renowned “Pinball Wizard.” The story follows Tommy Walker, a young boy traumatized by witnessing his father’s violent act against a rival, leading him into a profound state of introspection as he fixates on his own reflection. His remarkable talent for pinball transforms him from a withdrawn adolescent into an unexpected hero celebrity.
Now, over thirty years since this monumental pop-culture phenomenon first premiered on Broadway, the original Tony Award®-winning team—comprised of Pete Townshend (responsible for the music, lyrics, and book) and Des McAnuff (director and co-writer)—has come together once again to introduce Tommy’s journey to a new generation of theatergoers.
The creative team behind The Who’s TOMMY also features an impressive lineup, including choreographer Lorin Latarro and music supervisor Ron Melrose, who provides additional arrangements. The production design is crafted by David Korins, with projection design handled by Peter Nigrini. Costumes are designed by Sarafina Bush, while lighting is managed by Amanda Zieve. Sound design is executed by Gareth Owen, supplementing the orchestration efforts of Rick Fox and Steve Margoshes, alongside wig and hair design by Charles LaPointe.
