These Affordable Noise-Canceling Earbuds Preserved My Sanity Amidst Loud Roadwork

The CMF Buds Pro 2 have become unexpectedly essential in my daily routine, particularly during noisy disturbances in my neighborhood. While I’ve always appreciated my Shokz OpenRun Pro for their unique bone-conduction technology, their inability to block outside noise was put to the test recently when nearby roadwork turned my apartment into a rumbling environment. In need of an escape, I rediscovered the CMF Buds Pro 2, and their performance has truly impressed me.

Comfort and User-Friendly Controls

On first inspection, the CMF Buds Pro 2 may not turn heads with their aesthetics. Resembling the widely popular Apple AirPods, these true wireless earbuds come in a straightforward white design, which feels typical among today’s earbuds. Yet, at a price point just below $60, their functionality takes precedence over unique design traits.

What stood out most to me was how well the CMF Buds Pro 2 fit. With their rubber ear tips, they settled comfortably in my ears, requiring no adjustments. Should you need a different size, the package includes small, medium, and large tips, along with a fitting test feature to ensure the best fit.

As for controls, the Smart Dial in the charging case is a game changer. Rather than fumbling with the earbuds during use, I found it refreshing to manage playback and noise-canceling settings all through this dial. Simple press and twist actions allowed me to maintain focus without reverting to the disruptive sounds around me.

While I’m not a detailed audiophile, I find the audio quality from the CMF Buds Pro 2 satisfactory. Using them in conjunction with my Nothing Phone 3a and the accompanying Nothing X app lets me adjust sound preferences effortlessly, thanks to Dirac Opteo technology enhancing the equalizer settings.

Effective Noise Cancellation

The primary reason I opted for the CMF Buds Pro 2 during the chaotic roadwork phase was the need for effective noise cancelation. Although I’ve used more expensive options that performed admirably, I found myself often gravitating back to the Shokz OpenRun Pro, which left the CMF Buds Pro 2 as my go-to during this noisy episode.

In terms of noise cancellation, while it may not rival the most premium models, the reduction of around 50 dB of disruptive sounds was impressive enough to help me concentrate on my work. The adaptive ANC feature, designed to adjust based on environmental sounds, was functional, although I opted to maintain maximum cancellation. Conversations from my cats were still out of reach, so I didn’t need to allow any external chatter in.

Though the CMF Buds Pro 2 perform admirably for their price, they are not without flaws. Some intermittent playback issues have arisen, and the adaptive ANC’s rapid fluctuations can sometimes disrupt audio clarity. Also, their glossy exterior occasionally proves slippery during workouts, a concern I’ve never faced with my bone conduction headphones.

Reflecting on the situation brought on by road construction, I find myself oddly grateful to the gas company. Their early morning disturbances made me revisit the CMF Buds Pro 2 much sooner than I would have otherwise. Now, I have a new budget-friendly option that I genuinely enjoy using, and I’m even considering investing in Nothing’s Ear 3 to further explore their lineup. Don’t worry about my Shokz joining the ranks of forgotten tech just yet; I still plan on using them when I want to keep my ears open to the world while listening to music.
