A Glimpse into Amanda Data’s Colorful Upper West Side Apartment

Amanda Data has been residing in this 594-square-foot Upper West Side apartment for a year: Growing up, I was immersed in show tunes, channeling my youthful energy into collaging and decorating my surroundings with selections from AD and Anthropologie Home catalogs. Each piece was thoughtfully cut and glued onto my wish list, fostering a lifelong passion for aesthetics and design.

After moving on from those crafting days, I stepped into the corporate fashion world, collaborating with over 100 well-known brands globally. Though these early career experiences are integral to my narrative, my greatest sense of fulfillment arises from the creative endeavors I’ve nurtured since childhood.

Soda Fountain emerged as a platform for me to tell stories, create engaging content, and showcase products that highlight everyday beauty in a vibrant setting. With my background in fashion buying and trend forecasting, I enjoy exploring and promoting unique home products that offer a fresh perspective.

My living space embodies my personal style—it’s colorful, surprising, and artfully blends various prints, colors, and textures. I transformed the entire apartment on my own, primarily utilizing secondhand finds and selections from HomeGoods.

Every corner and ceiling is painted a distinctive hue, complemented by wall paneling that adds depth. Among my most cherished items are oil paintings by my sister, which illuminate each room with character.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Texture and print driven, theatrical, homey.

The living room is a true reflection of my style—an oasis of pistachio green! The ceilings are adorned with a calming baby blue, and the wall paneling enhances the cozy atmosphere. The artwork I chose to conceal my television ties the room together, while I selectively added pieces that harmonize with the overall color scheme. I particularly adore the pinch-pleat curtains and fringe stools!

If you rent, what is your rent per month? My rent is approximately $1,700, and I invested about $10,000 to furnish the space completely.

What is your favorite room and why? I absolutely love my living room! It’s a vibrant pistachio planet that embodies my style. The artwork concealing my TV really brought everything together, and I gradually collected additional pieces that complemented the color palette. The pinch-pleat curtains and fringe stools are standout features!

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? Recently, I acquired two burl wood stools from HomeGoods! Check them out via my Instagram page!

Any advice for creating a home you love? My vision was to blend eclectic, vibrant shapes with classic and country-style elements. I designed a space in my living room for hosting dinner parties and ensured I purchased functional, multi-use ottomans and stools for ample seating. I want my home to be a sanctuary from the bustling city, offering a welcoming environment for guests. People often remark on how joyful and inviting the space feels!
