Broad River Campground: North America’s Premier Glamping Destination
Broad River Campground in Mooresboro, North Carolina, has been recognized as the top glamping site in North America for 2025, according to the Campspot Awards. Nestled about an hour west of Charlotte, this campground offers a unique blend of adventure and comfort, featuring geodesic domes, cozy cabins, an on-site library, and convenient access to the river.
Glamping, a fusion of glamour and camping, allows nature enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the great outdoors without sacrificing modern comforts. Among the many glamping options available across the country, Broad River Campground stands out as a favorite.
The campground boasts 83 acres of varied terrains with dedicated tent and RV sites, although it’s the glamping experiences that steal the spotlight. Guests can choose from luxurious cabins and distinctive geodesic domes equipped with smart televisions, ensuite bathrooms or access to bathhouses, as well as private hot tubs for relaxation.
The cabins are designed to accommodate up to eight guests and include amenities such as a mini kitchen featuring a microwave, oven, and full-sized refrigerator. Each cabin comes with private patios, providing perfect spots for guests to unwind outdoors alongside optional hot tub rentals.
On the other hand, the geodesic domes, encompassing 400 square feet, are bright and airy, welcoming up to four guests. Each dome has its own private deck with Adirondack chairs, and hot tubs are available for rent. While electricity is provided, running water is not directly available in the domes, necessitating use of the communal bathhouse. Guests can also enjoy complimentary fire rings and grills for cozy evenings under the stars.
Broad River Campground is not just about accommodations; it offers a range of activities set within its sprawling grounds. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool, let children play on the playground, or browse through the book-lending library. Additionally, there’s a variety of games available, such as ping pong, horseshoes, and corn hole. The community room, along with laundry facilities and a store selling snacks and camping essentials, enhances the overall experience.
The natural beauty surrounding the campground is a significant draw, with the river providing direct access for swimming, tubing, and fishing. Two scenic hiking trails add to the allure: the Maple Trail leads to the serene Broad River, while the Willis Creek Trail meanders past the peaceful creek.
Located south of Boiling Springs and close to the Tennessee border, the campground is accessible via Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), approximately an hour’s drive away.
For those considering a stay, rates for the cabins and domes start at $99 per night, with a private hot tub add-on priced between $29 and $39 nightly.
