9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM RUN/WALK
THOUSANDS RETRACE FIRST RESPONDERS’ ROUTE TO GROUND ZERO

Over the weekend, the streets of New York City were vibrant with the sight of light blue shirts as hundreds of participants gathered for the 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk.
This event, held on a Sunday, aimed to raise approximately $600,000 to ensure the museum remains free for public access. Fitness influencer Ally Love participated in the event’s opening, adding a spirited touch to the morning.
To maintain safety, NYPD officers cordoned off sections of Lower Manhattan, setting up barricades throughout the area to facilitate the event.
The race route closely followed paths taken by many first responders on September 11, 2001, giving the occasion significant emotional resonance for those who took part.
Participants from across the globe came together under a gray, overcast sky. As runners crossed the finish line in front of the 9/11 Museum, they were greeted by a heartwarming scene: a row of FDNY firefighters in red shirts, clapping and cheering enthusiastically to support the finishers.
The 9/11 Museum and Memorial stands as one of New York’s premier attractions, drawing more than 2.5 million visitors annually.
Funds collected during this event are crucial for keeping the memorial accessible, ensuring that anyone wishing to visit can do so without financial barrier.
